Until now if you wanted to build a nice Mopar 8.75 inch rear you had to use rusty dropout that is 50 years old! Well, Nitro Gear and Axle has now manufactured a brand new 742 with all of the original casting stamps. Made from nodular iron and features forged bearing caps with billet Side adjusters. This unit will handle lots of power, slicks, trans brake or anything else you want to throw at it. The Chrysler/Mopar 8.75 inch differential is a very popular and robust 3rd member type rear end used in a vast array of Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth Muscle Cars from the 60s and 70s. The growing popularity of classic Mopar vehicles has created a shortage on used 3rd member cores. Nitro Gear is now offering brand new 8.75 inch 3rd member drop-out housings, utilizing the beefy 742 casting design. The 742 housing was chosen as it uses the largest pinion bearings of the different 3rd member castings. The new Nitro housings are made of high strength Nodular Iron, with stronger bearing caps, and billet adjuster nuts for added strength.
