1998 - 2002 5.9L Dodge 24 Valve
The 24-Valve 5.9L Cummins changed the Dodge diesel market when it showed up in late 1998. The electronically controlled Bosch VP44 injection pump gave the truck better drivability and opened the door for easy electronic tuning compared to the older 12-Valve trucks.
The weak factory lift pump is still the part to watch because low fuel pressure can shorten VP44 life quickly. For 1998.5-2002 Dodge Cummins trucks, common parts include VP44 pumps, lift pumps, turbochargers, injectors, exhaust systems, tuners, intake kits, engine parts, and drivetrain upgrades.
