Sway Bar Selection

*ONE REQUIRED* - The Commuter System has been optimized for use with the Torsion Sway Bar; this sway bar upgrade is a HUGE ride quality upgrade. Maintaining the factory sway bar through use of the Sway Bar Drops & Extended Link Kit is only recommended for customers with snow-plows, in-bed campers or who are constantly hauling to the capacity of the truck.

Rear Leaf Spring Selection

*ONE REQUIRED* - The Commuter System has been optimized for use with the Full Progressive Leaf Springs. This system is also compatible with the Progressive Add-a-Packs but there will be a notable ride quality difference on and off-road. Add-a-Packs are NOT recommended for the F350 (or any F250 equipped with the High Capacity Tow or Tremor Package). More information can be found in the description at the bottom of this page. Selecting "NO Rear Leaf Spring Selection" will result in an unknown ride quality and height result as all Carli Systems are optimized to either the Add-a-Pack or Progressive Leaf Springs.

Leaf Spring Shackle

*OPTIONAL* - Much of the jarring ride of the Super Duty rear can be attributed to the factory vulcanized bushings in the leaf spring pack and shackle. The factory shackle is very strong BUT the design is not conducive to a smooth ride. The Carli shackle is constructed of 1/4″ American cold-rolled steel. The mid-length gusset ensures no deflection while the serviceable bushings offer a far superior ride to the bind of the factory bushings.

Long Travel Airbags

*OPTIONAL* - Restores Factory capacity to reduced rate Carli Leaf Springs. Provides the best of both ends of the spectrum. Ride on Carli's soft-rate leaf springs when unloaded then air the bags up to level the chassis and support your load! Standard F250 will have 3.5" Axle Tube, High-Capacity Tow Package F250 will have 4". F350 will have 4" and DRW will be 4.5". We ALWAYS recommend measuring your axle before ordering as the above are guidelines and should be confirmed prior to ordering!

2° Pinion Shim

*OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED* - When modifying the rear leaf springs (add-a-pack or Full Spring Pack) of the 2017+ Super Duty platform, there's a small chance you'll induce a driveline vibration around 70mph when under power from the rear driveline. These pinion shims will correct the angle to 4°-5°, ideal for our lifted applications. Although these will not be "required" on every truck, we've found the 4°-5° spec to be superior in our applications and these are FAR easier to install initially than correctively.

Fabricated Radius Arm Option

*OPTIONAL* - Icing on the cake, these arms add Additional Tire Clearance, Limit Strap Protection for your Front Shocks, 1/4" Boxed Steel Constructions, Serviceable 17-4 Stainless Spherical Bearings and Adjustable Caster Correction up to 3.5° over stock specs to leave Death-Wobble in the rear-view.

Low Mount Steering Stabilizer

*OPTIONAL* - Bolt in steering stabilizer which compliments a Carli, or factory, high mount stabilizer. Adjustable from 70-200 psi to run neutral (no directional influence at 70psi) or at 200psi to counter the left-hand pull inherent to tires like Nitto Trail Grapplers. Run in conjunction with the Carli High Mount for the ultimate Dual, Opposing Steering Stabilizer combination that's infinitely adjustable.

Description

The Super Duty Commuter 2.0 system is designed for people seeking the best on-road ride quality that don’t plan to off-road their vehicle beyond low-speed trail driving. Utilizing Carli SPEC 2.0″ Diameter, Internal Reservoir shocks, we’ve developed a tune that delivers all-around comfort and ride quality designed for on-road, in town, highway, and towing/hauling.

 

The mono-tube, internal reservoir, Carli SPEC 2.0 boasts 6063 Aluminum construction, anodized body for corrosion resistance, 5/8″ hardened steel chrome plated shaft, full serviceability & rebuildability and are built with 1-peice bushings in the 6061 billet rod-ends. These shocks are spec’d with a premium 5WT oil to balance lubricity, consistent damping and the widest available range in temperature variation. We back these with a 1-year warranty, serviced by Carli.

 

The truck will sit 4.5” higher in the front and have more wheel travel thanks to the taller, Progressive Rate Coil Springs. Radius Arm Drop Brackets reset the pivot point and keep the travel linear for the best ride while the Sway Bar Link & Drop Brackets Kit resets the sway bar engagement point. The End Link Kit is listed as an “option”, but it’s necessary to run. We plan to release a Torsion Sway Bar in the near future so the end-link options were pulled from the base kit and made selectable in anticipation of the second option. Bump Stop Drops protect the shocks from over-compressing, the Adjustable Track Bar centers the front axle and Stainless Brake Lines firm up braking and ensure there is enough line for the newfound travel. To round off the front end, we include Caster Shims to tighten the steering.

 

NEW for the Carli-SPEC: In the previous version, we optimized the Commuter for the add-a-pack while recommending against our full replacement leaf springs. With the new shocks and tuning, the rear can now be outfitted with a replacement Full Progressive Spring Pack (reduces capacity to a “light” ¾-ton) or factory leaf-pack modifying Progressive Add-a-Pack (maintains factory payload capacity and pairs with the included Carli Fabricated 2” block)!

 

This is where the F250 and F350 are a bit different. Since 2008, the main spring packs on these two trucks is different; the F250 has a lighter rate spring pack than its 350 counterpart. The F250 Add-a-Pack equipped systems are a nice improvement over stock; the F350 with the Add-a-Pack is still very stiff in the rear as the main pack doesn’t move much unless loaded. We recommend the Full Replacement Leaf Spring packs for both trucks but especially the F350 given the super-stiff factory springs. If capacity is a concern, the Full Progressive Leaf Springs can be supplemented back to the factory capacity of a SRW F350 with the addition of our Long-Travel Airbags. The Full Progressive Leaf Spring Pack will shift the axle slightly forward in the wheel well to ensure maximum tire clearance for a 37” M/T at full compression.

 

Wheel and Tire: Factory Wheels SHOULD NOT be run with oversized tires. They’re known to rub the radius arm, sway bar and most concerning – Brake Lines. Factory tires and factory wheels will work without issue but we DO NOT recommend running oversized tires on factory wheels. On our 4.5” Ford Systems, we recommend 17”-18” wheels, no more than 9” wide with 5” of backspacing with a 37”, E-Rated Tire. The more rubber, the better the small bump compliance will be at proper inflation pressures. The ride will firm up as you go larger in wheel diameter.
