Fuel Injection Control Module (FICM) Rebuild Service - 2004-2005 GM 6.6L LLY Duramax 0281011134
Part # 0281010014
FICM's for the early Duramax have become a rebuild service only. Core availability has become nearly non-existant so this has become our only option to keep these trucks on the road.
HOW IT WORKS: After purchase we will email you a Purchase Order & printable UPS label to send your FICM direct to our rebuilder. Box your FICM in a plastic bag and padding to ensure no further damage to the unit. Place a copy of your Purchase Order in the box with the FICM and use the label provided. Drop off the box at any UPS shipping location for pickup.
REBUILD TERMS: once your FICM arrives at the rebuild facility it will be inspected and tested before disassembly. If the unit passes initial testing and inspection, it will be opened and disassembled and the rebuild process will begin. If the unit fails testing it will be opened for a cursory inspection to determine the reason for failure. If deemed non-repairable, the unit will be returned to the shipper as-is. The fee for testing and inspection is $100. We will refund the difference on purchase, less this test fee and charge for shipping the return.
Main reason for test failure - excessive heat / burnt circuit board. Water damage & corrosion from being submersed. Cracked case leaving internals open to the elements. Damaged circuit board being the worst-case scenario because there are no replacements. They are a multi-layer board with sandwiched circuitry.
The FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) controls the electrical impulses that control the fuel injectors. The fuel injector ignition voltage circuit is Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) , between 20 volts at idle to approximately 93 volts in order to compensate for increased engine load and RPM. The fuel injector control module energizes each fuel injector by grounding the command circuit between the fuel injector control module and the fuel injector. The fuel injector control module monitors the status of the ignition voltage circuits and the fuel injector command circuits. When a fuel injector circuit condition is detected by the fuel injector control module, all of the fuel injectors on the affected ignition voltage circuit will be disabled. If a circuit condition is detected on a fuel injector circuit for cylinders 1, 4, 6, or 7, DTCs P0201, P0204, P0206, P0207 will set, along with DTC P1261. If a circuit condition is detected on a fuel injector circuit for cylinders 2, 3, 5, or 8, DTCs P0202, P0203, P0205, P0208 will set, along with DTC P1262.
