This Stage 1 Transmission kit is our most popular transmission for the 68RFE series. Dang near all of the 68RFE design flaws have been addressed and built into this Stage 1 kit. This transmission kit is good for stock trucks and very mildly tuned trucks. If you are a heavy tower and your truck is tuned we recommend adding the Babymaker 1000 valve body. The stock valve body is the weakest link in the 68RFE transmissions and Randy's Babymaker1000 valve body is completely redesigned and all the factory flaws are no longer an issue. If your truck has more than just a mild tune than you will need to look at our Stage 2 or higher kits.

  • Babymaker 1000 Billet Channel Plate.

Important Information about the 68RFE Transmissions

Transmission tuning is required. We recommend 100 psi resting line pressure and 225 psi at 30% throttle angle. This is crucial and must be discussed prior to installation for warranty purposes.

  • THIS IS THE INFORMATION YOUR TUNER WILL NEED TO PROPERLY TUNE FOR THE BABYMAKER:
  • LINE PRESSURE SET TO 225PSI ABOVE 30% THROTTLE ANGLE
  • 100PSI RESTING PRESSURE
  • NO LOCKUP UNTIL 4TH GEAR
  • LOW/REVERSE SPRAG HOLDOUT

Transmission relearn must be performed after installation. A scanner capable of doing a quick learn is required after installation and must be initiated, we then require a drive cycle of at least 30 minutes with light start and stops for the first 10 minutes paying careful attention to shift flairs or tie ups before proceeding to the next step. If light throttle shifts feel right, proceed to medium throttle up-shifts in a safe place with no traffic, then after 5 minutes of start and stops drive the remainder of the test drive as you would normally.

Please allow several cool down cycles before allowing wide open throttle shifts as the clutches are still setting in.

NOTE: use of a billet flex plate is recommended for Stage 1 and necessary for Stage 2 and UP!

68RFE 2 Year unlimited mile limited warranty (Stage 1 & 2)
68RFE 2 Year unlimited mile limited warranty will not cover broken cases or shafts of transmission including the 4th clutch hub. Any tires larger than a 35” tire must have proper gearing or warranty will be voided. Vehicle owner is responsible for having proper transmission tuning as transmission failure due to lack of tuning or improper tuning will not be a covered failure. Abuse, misuse, or burn down due to operator error will void warranty. Any warranty work must be performed at Randy’s Transmissions in Tooele UT. It is the vehicle owner’s responsibility to ship transmission or vehicle to Randy’s location for any and all repairs needing to be performed. Any repairs to transmission not authorized by Randy’s Transmissions will void warranty and will not be covered by Randy’s Transmissions.



HOT SHOT AND PLOW TRUCK DRIVERS: WARRANTY IS 12 MONTH / 12,000 MILES.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU ARE INSTALLING A TRANSMISSION YOURSELF, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION COOLER FLUSHED BY A PROFESSIONAL PRIOR TO TRANSMISSION INSTALL. FAILURE TO DO SO, MAY RESULT IN CONTAMINATED FLUID AND OLD MATERIAL GETTING INTO THE NEW UNIT.
POURING ATF THROUGH THE COOLER IS NOT SUFFICIENT ENOUGH.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO READ ANY LITERATURE THAT MAY COME WITH YOUR TRANSMISSION OR OTHER COMPONENT REGARDING ADDITIONAL STEPS THAT MUST BE TAKEN IN ORDER FOR A PROPER INSTALLATION & FUNCTION OF THE UNIT.

For the first 90 days of warranty we will pay Shipping to shops due to a covered failure. R&R labor at this time is a case-by-case basis. Fluids and incidentals are not covered.
