When increasing performance by elevating RPM and boost pressure in the 6.7L Scorpion Powerstroke, valve float becomes an issue and can cause serious damage to the valvetrain due to the weak factory valve springs. If running aggressive tuning on an otherwise stock truck with a factory VGT turbocharger, exhaust drive pressures increase which can force the valves open causing reversion. Reversion allows exhaust gasses to enter the cylinder where it shields fuel particles from oxygen. This causes a number of negative effects which decreases power.
