The 68722045AA is the updated design for 2025+ Cummins but can be used on earlier 2003-2024 models with the addition of a high quality gasket sealant such as "The Right Stuff" or Aviation "Form A Gasket". This is standard practice even with the spec'd gasket - it should not change your decision to order.
The 68722045AA uses a steel-and-rubber gasket construction rather than the older paper-style gear housing gasket used on earlier Cummins ISB applications. Steel-and-rubber construction compresses more consistently and resists oil saturation at the gear housing to block interface.
Because this gasket was designed natively for the 2025+ 6.7L profile, it does not perfectly match the gear case housing geometry in all areas on 2003-2024 5.9L and 6.7L trucks. This is a known fit characteristic - not a defect. Running a quality sealant such as "The Right Stuff" or Aviation "Form A Gasket" in those areas resolves the gap. Most experienced Cummins techs apply sealant on the gearcase gasket regardless of which part is used, so this is not a concern in practice. On 2025-2026 6.7L trucks, the gasket seats to spec with no profile concerns.
