A NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) sensor in a 6.7L Cummins diesel engine measures the amount of harmful nitrogen oxide gases in the exhaust. It provides crucial feedback to the engine computer (ECM) to ensure compliance with emissions regulations and to properly adjust the air-fuel mixture and DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) dosing.
Most 6.7L Cummins engines have two NOx sensors working together to manage the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.
